Using SpecBot in Claude or ChatGPT

The SpecBot app lets Claude or ChatGPT work with your SpecBot catalog: import your price list, draft a proposal from your offerings and send it to your client, all from the chat. Prices, terms and totals always come from your catalog, not from the AI. The MCP server docs cover sign-in, scopes and every tool's inputs in detail.

Connect it in Claude

  1. In Claude, open Settings → Connectors.
  2. Add a custom connector with the URL https://api.specbot.dev/mcp (step by step).
  3. Click Connect, sign in to SpecBot (or create a free account) and approve the connection.

Connect it in ChatGPT

  1. In ChatGPT, open Settings → Apps.
  2. Turn on developer mode if your plan needs it, then add a new app with the URL https://api.specbot.dev/mcp (step by step).
  3. Sign in to SpecBot (or create a free account) and approve the connection.

Then ask something like "import my rate card into SpecBot" or "draft a proposal for Acme for the website package".

What each tool does

Tool What it does
list_offers Lists the offerings in your catalog, with prices, variants, add-ons and terms. Read-only.
create_offering Adds one offering to your catalog.
update_offering Changes an offering. Proposals you already drafted keep their own copy.
import_offers Turns a price list or rate card you paste into catalog offerings. Skips names you already have.
draft_proposal Creates or revises a draft proposal from your offerings and shows you a preview. Never sends anything.
send_proposal Sends a draft to your client and returns the share link. Only runs after you confirm.
proposal_status Shows whether a proposal is draft, sent, viewed, accepted or declined, and who signed. Read-only.

SpecBot only receives what the assistant sends to these tools. It never sees your chat history and runs no AI of its own for the app. See the Privacy Policy.

FAQ

Will the assistant send a proposal without asking me?

No. send_proposal needs your confirmation. The assistant shows you the draft, and SpecBot sends nothing until you say to send it.

What are the plan limits?

The Free plan includes 3 proposals and 3 AI drafts a month (AI drafts unlock after you verify your email). Pro removes the proposal limit and raises AI drafts to 50 a month; see pricing. Limits reset on the first of each month. Proposals count the same whether you create them in the web app or from Claude or ChatGPT. AI drafts are only used by the web app's own AI drafting, so drafting in Claude or ChatGPT doesn't use them.

What does my client see when they accept?

Your client opens the share link, no account needed. They see the proposal with your branding, pick any options or add-ons you offered, and see the total update. To accept, they enter their name, role, company and email. You both get an email with the signed PDF (the proposal plus an acceptance certificate), and the proposal shows as accepted in SpecBot. They can also decline, with an optional reason.

How do I disconnect SpecBot from Claude or ChatGPT?

Remove SpecBot in that app's connector or app settings. To cut off access on our side straight away, email support@specbot.dev and we revoke the connection. A page to manage connected apps yourself is coming to SpecBot settings.

How do I delete my account and data?

Email support@specbot.dev from the address on your account. We delete your account, catalog, proposals and connected-app access within 30 days and confirm by email. Download any signed PDFs you want to keep first. Details are in the Privacy Policy.

How do I cancel Pro?

In the web app, go to Settings → Billing and open the billing portal. Your plan runs to the end of the period you paid for. See the Terms of Service.

Something isn't working

Email us with what you did, what you expected and what happened. A screenshot helps. If it happened in Claude or ChatGPT, include roughly when and the name of the tool if the assistant showed one.
